From abroad
Marrying in Killarney from abroad?
We can meet by video first, so the look is settled before you fly.
A trial can be arranged when you arrive, and I’ll plan around the time difference.
On the morning I come to your hotel.
Before you fly
Video trials
Laura offers a video consultation before you travel. Brides coming from the US, UK, Canada and the Middle East can talk through the style, look at examples and ask questions, without flying over first.
Calls
Time zones
She regularly works with brides across US and UK time zones, and plans trials and calls around them.
The day

Marrying in Ireland from abroad? Your questions answered
Booking from abroad
Do you work with brides who live abroad?
All the time. I've looked after brides flying home from the US, the UK, the UAE and Australia, and some of them don't land in Kerry until the week of the wedding. We can sort everything by email, so you can plan from wherever you are.
How far ahead can I book?
As early as you like. I'm already taking bookings for 2028, and lots of brides living abroad lock in their date a year or two out, so that's one less thing on the list. Send your date through the Check My Date form or by email and I'll tell you straight away if I'm free. If I'm already booked, I'm happy to point you towards stylists I trust.
How much will it cost?
Every quote depends on how many of you are having your hair done, your ceremony time and where you're getting ready, so prices are on request. Send me those details and I'll come back with a clear quote in euros, with the call-out fee for your venue already included. Eloping, or just want your own hair done? I can quote for the bride only too.
How do I secure my date from overseas?
A €100 booking deposit secures your date, and it comes off your final balance. It's paid by bank transfer, and international transfers are no problem: I'll email you my bank details, including the IBAN and BIC/SWIFT, plus anything else your bank asks for. Once the deposit lands I'll email to confirm you're booked in.
How do I pay the balance if I'm not carrying euros?
The balance is due on the wedding morning. Cash is my preference, but if that's awkward when you're travelling, a bank transfer is fine instead. Just let me know beforehand which suits you better.
Can we talk things through before I fly over?
Of course. Email works best across time zones, because you can send questions whenever suits you and I reply to each one personally.
Do you work with wedding planners?
Yes, regularly. I'm happy to deal directly with your planner or keep them copied in, so the morning schedule lives in one place and nothing gets lost in translation.
Trials
Do I need a trial?
A trial is optional, but it's a lovely way to settle on your look and get to know each other before the day. Trials take place at my home studio, about ten minutes from Killarney town.
I'm only home for a few days. Can I fit a trial in?
Yes. Send me your travel dates as soon as your flights are booked and I'll offer you trial times that fit around them, including afternoon slots if you're landing that morning. Some brides from abroad have their trial in the same week as the wedding, and that works perfectly well. The earlier you tell me your dates, the more choice you'll have.
Can I have my hair and make-up trials on the same day?
Lots of brides from abroad try to fit both into the same trip, and it's a great way to save on driving. Tell me your dates and I'll send the trial times I have free, so you can line them up with your make-up artist. I only do hair, but I'm happy to share the names of make-up artists I love working with.
What should I bring to my trial?
Come with your hair washed the night before and dried smooth with a brush and hairdryer (no straighteners, please). Bring two or three photos of styles you love, ideally on someone with a similar hair colour to yours, plus any clips, combs or veil you plan to wear. A top that buttons or zips at the front means you can change afterwards without disturbing your finished hair.
The wedding morning
What time will we need to start?
That depends on your ceremony time and how many of you are having your hair done. As a guide, a 12 o'clock ceremony with five people means I start no later than 7am, so everyone is finished and in their dresses by about 10.45 for photos. Once I have your numbers, I'll send you a confirmation with your start time, finish time and location, ready to share with your photographer, make-up artist and planner.
How many people can you look after?
My bridal package covers up to four ladies including you, and I can usually add up to four more, depending on your ceremony time and location. With a ceremony at 1pm or later, eight is very doable; for a 12 o'clock ceremony, six is ideal. If your party is bigger, I can recommend other local stylists for the extras.
Will you come to my hotel or venue?
Yes, I come to you on the morning, whether that's a hotel, a country house or a family home in Kerry. The call-out fee depends on where you're getting ready and is built into your quote, so there are no surprises. Send me your room number beforehand and I'll come straight up.
What do we need to do before you arrive?
Everyone should wash their hair the evening before and dry it smooth with a brush and hairdryer. After that, no tight buns, plaits or hair ties, as they leave kinks. Please keep a dressing table clear near a socket, or have a large or freestanding mirror and a small table ready, and I'll set up there.
Hair, extensions and Irish weather
Can you work with hair extensions?
Yes, I often work with clip-in extensions and I'm happy to recommend where to get them. Please don't wash them before the day, as washing can make them frizz. A slight colour difference usually disappears once they're blended in, and if they need a trim to blend, I'd much rather do that myself.
Will my style hold in Irish weather?
Kerry can go from sunshine to soft drizzle in the space of an hour, so I style for a look that lasts all day. I'll always be honest about what your hair type and density will hold, and if a style in your photos isn't realistic for your hair, I'll suggest the closest version that will last. Updos and half-up styles usually handle wind and damp best, and a small umbrella in the car never goes astray.
Practical bits
Can you do hair for our guests?
For guests outside the bridal party, I'm happy to recommend local stylists, and a group of guests can often book a call-out together.
